A must to experience festival

Simballay Festival is a yearly event in the municipality of  Nabunturan. It is a celebration of feast for a bountiful and fruitful harvest throughout the year.
Even though it was just the start of building the bahay kubos, many people had passed by and asked when the opening would be; they couldn't wait to see the finished display. Every booth of each barangay showcases a glimpse of what their place is all about. The representatives were also trading their   products and artifacts.
I was so amazed on how they creatively presented their balay-balay. Each booth (or balay-balay) has its own story like how the sizes of the pillars depict the strength of the houses. It is not just merely all about searching for the most beautiful kubo but also presenting their traditions and cultures and remembering the simple  past lives inspite of continuous progression of technology

The Simballay Festival has improved this year. They had put an installation art, a row of umbrellas hanging with accompanying christmas lights  from above the center between the array of bahay kubos, that some expectators might have misinterpreted it as Umbrella (payong-payong) Festival.

Parents' day is everyday

Parents' Day is not just one day. It's everyday once the two people were marriage and had made a family. Being a parent is a big responsibility. That's why our parents deserve a rest for all the hardworks and efforts they did to us. Even for just one day we should give back and treat them as special guests. There is no course offered as parenting yet our parents seem to be masters of it.

Dec. 01, 2017 is the Parents' Day  celebration in NNCHS and I didn't feel like going to school because, first of all, I hadn't given the invitation letter to them and that's why they were not able to attend. I'm used to it. I don't know what's wrong with myself. It's not my attitude to invite them to any meetings in school. Besides I'm doing good in my studies so they don't have to worry. I just see it as a hassle for them, a waste of time and money. We are just poor, one reason why I'm a thrifty person. I budget every single coin coming out of our pockets. Also, I wanted to rest since it is usual that afternoon classes would be canceled whenever there are morning events.

Still, I went to school because I don't want to miss any discussion in class though most of our teachers are out for seminars. While walking around the school campus, I met my Junior High adviser. She asked me why I was not at the gym (where the events were being held). I told her that my parents were not attending. She asked me again, "How about Ma'am Eyeing, didn't you prepare anything for her?" I was like, "Oh my gosh. I totally forgot," and immediately went out of school and bought some presents for her: chocolates and flowers.

Ma'am Eyeing or Ma'am Rossally is my boss/8th grade subject teacher/adviser in life/sister/mother. Actually, I'm her working student. Even though I forgot to give tribute to her, I cannot forget a person with a good heart like her. I owe all success in my life to her and my family.

During the event, I agreed to what the speaker said, which was 'our parents are the precious and priceless gift from God'. We don't know all their sacrifices until we've become parents ourselves. I also helped in distributing the snacks. It was very tiring and exhausting but seeing the smiles of the parents while they accepted the food, I felt like I was refreshed and that my work paid off.
Even though it's their responsibility, it has always been in us Filipinos to give back.

Human trafficking is one of the major problems prevalent in our country nowadays. Therefore action should be done.
In human trafficking human rights are greatly violated; article 4 and 5 there shall be no slavery and no one has the right to torture or hurt anybody or subject them to inhuman or degrading treatment.
The person who do this crime has no soul, lazy to find job and that is desperate to do such things. The usual reason why many become victim of human trafficking is because of ignorance. They just go for the money they  lack information about the true motive of it and when they realized it's too late.  And that is why as a student I can contribute in help as raising awareness by educating my fellow students and other people who are not knowledgeable about this. Me also I consider not being a victim myself as a contribution.
Everybody let's be aware and help fight against human trafficking.
